Provide skilled care for all activities of daily living in accordance with corporate policy, established standards, and recognized nursing practice.
- Assist registered staff in nursing diagnostic and therapeutic measures.
- Complete all documentation on time, ensuring it is current and accurate, in accordance with corporate policies.
- Ensure a holistic, quality approach to resident care aligned with RhynoCare’s Mission, Vision, Values, and the Resident Bill of Rights.
- Assist and support resident meal services.
- Support restorative nursing efforts.
- Coordinate activities for effective resident care during shifts and across the unit.
- Follow current legislation, best practices, corporate policies, and procedures in care execution.
- Participate in agency risk management and quality improvement programs related to resident care.
- Maintain timely, accurate, and complete documentation for all care provided, complying with legislation and regulations.
- Mentor new staff/students and promote educational opportunities.
- Attend departmental, interdisciplinary team, and resident safety meetings.
- Foster teamwork among shifts, staff, and adhere to the collective agreement.
- Follow all health and safety procedures, including proper body mechanics, equipment use, safety protocols, and PPE usage.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Proficient in verbal and written English; additional languages are an asset.
- Must meet one of the following criteria:
- Completion of a Ministry of Education approved PSW Training Program (minimum 640 hours) from a recognized college or approved school.
- RN, RPN, Paramedic, Occupational Therapy, or Physiotherapy students who have completed Year 1.
- Experience as a Facility PSW is an asset.
- Negative T.B. skin test or chest x-ray.
- Current CPR (BCLS) and First Aid certification.
- Meet health surveillance requirements of the Public Hospitals Act.
- VSS within the past year confirming no criminal record.
