About the Role:

The Book Off team will be a regularly scheduled group of PSW/HSW professionals who will be deployed to cover patients left without a care provider due to Book Offs and illnesses. The role does not provide regular scheduled vacation coverage. Employees will be required to drive within the Waterloo-Wellington region, including Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, and Guelph.

Process

Book Off employees will not have a regular patient caseload schedule. Instead, they will receive their schedule as soon as the Book Off coordinator is aware of a book off, which could be as early as the evening before or by 7 am on the day of coverage. The schedule will be inherited from the employee who booked off, and any assigned tasks may need to be delegated to trained employees. If PSWs/HSWs complete their Book Offs prior to the end of their shift, they may be assigned additional work.

Minimum Requirements

• Must have a car and be willing to travel across Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, Guelph, and rural areas
• Must be PSW certified with experience or an experienced HSW
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule
• No limitations regarding the clients they can see
• Good communication skills and the ability to stand up for oneself
