Job summary

Qualifications

Job description

Provide skilled care for all activities of daily living in accordance with corporate policy, established standards, and recognized nursing practice.

  1. Assist the registered staff in nursing diagnostic and therapeutic measures.
  2. Complete all documentation on time, in accordance with corporate policies, ensuring that it is current and accurate.
  3. Ensure a holistic, quality approach to resident care consistent with RhynoCare’s Mission, Vision, Values, and the Resident Bill of Rights.
  4. Provide assistance and support with resident meal service.
  5. Support restorative nursing efforts.
  6. Coordinate and conduct activities necessary for effective resident care during shifts and across the unit.
  7. Execute care following current legislation, best practices, corporate policies, and procedures.
  8. Participate in agency risk management and quality improvement programs related to resident care.
  9. Document all care delivered timely, accurately, and completely, complying with legislation, regulations, and internal standards.
  10. Mentor new staff/students and promote educational opportunities.
  11. Engage in departmental, interdisciplinary team, and resident safety meetings.
  12. Promote teamwork and understanding among shifts, staff, and adhere to the collective agreement.
  13. Follow all health and safety procedures, including:
  • Proper body mechanics during routines and when using equipment.
  • Use equipment according to manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Follow safety procedures for lockouts.
  • Wear appropriate safety gear and PPE as needed.
Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Proficient in verbal and written English communication.
  • Knowledge of a second language is an asset.
  • Must meet one of the following:
    • Completed a Ministry of Education approved PSW Training Program (minimum 640 hours) from a recognized college or school approved by the National Association of Career Colleges.
    • RN, RPN, Paramedic, Occupational Therapy, or Physiotherapy students who have completed Year 1.
  • Experience as a Facility PSW is an asset.
  • Negative TB skin test or chest x-ray.
  • Current CPR (BCLS) and First Aid certification.
  • Meet health surveillance requirements of the Public Hospitals Act.
  • VSS within the past year confirming no criminal record.
