Provide skilled care for all activities of daily living in accordance with corporate policy, established standards, and recognized nursing practice.
- Assist the registered staff in nursing diagnostic and therapeutic measures.
- Complete all documentation on time, in accordance with corporate policies, ensuring that it is current and accurate.
- Ensure a holistic, quality approach to resident care consistent with RhynoCare’s Mission, Vision, Values, and the Resident Bill of Rights.
- Provide assistance and support with resident meal service.
- Support restorative nursing efforts.
- Coordinate and conduct activities necessary for effective resident care during shifts and across the unit.
- Execute care following current legislation, best practices, corporate policies, and procedures.
- Participate in agency risk management and quality improvement programs related to resident care.
- Document all care delivered timely, accurately, and completely, complying with legislation, regulations, and internal standards.
- Mentor new staff/students and promote educational opportunities.
- Engage in departmental, interdisciplinary team, and resident safety meetings.
- Promote teamwork and understanding among shifts, staff, and adhere to the collective agreement.
- Follow all health and safety procedures, including:
- Proper body mechanics during routines and when using equipment.
- Use equipment according to manufacturer’s instructions.
- Follow safety procedures for lockouts.
- Wear appropriate safety gear and PPE as needed.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Proficient in verbal and written English communication.
- Knowledge of a second language is an asset.
- Must meet one of the following:
- Completed a Ministry of Education approved PSW Training Program (minimum 640 hours) from a recognized college or school approved by the National Association of Career Colleges.
- RN, RPN, Paramedic, Occupational Therapy, or Physiotherapy students who have completed Year 1.
- Experience as a Facility PSW is an asset.
- Negative TB skin test or chest x-ray.
- Current CPR (BCLS) and First Aid certification.
- Meet health surveillance requirements of the Public Hospitals Act.
- VSS within the past year confirming no criminal record.
