Job summary

Amenida Senior Community in Whitby, Ontario is hiring a Personal Support Worker (PSW) to support residents with daily living, companionship, and safety. You will work with the care team to deliver personalized care and maintain a comfortable living environment.

The role requires completion of a PSW program, valid Ontario PSW certification, WHMIS, a criminal background check, and the ability to work varied shifts including evenings, overnights, and weekends.

Qualifications

• Completion of a recognized and accredited Personal Support Worker program.
• Valid PSW certification in Ontario.
• Completion of a WHMIS course.
• Successful criminal background check, including Vulnerable Sector Screening, prior to hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, and mobility.
• Provide support with care plans and medication reminders if applicable.
• Monitor and report changes in health, behavior, or needs to the supervisor or healthcare team.
• Foster companionship and emotional comfort through positive interactions.
• Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow health and safety protocols.

Position: Personal Support Worker (PSW)
Location: 101 Manning Road in Whitby, Ontario
Compensation: $20.28/hrHourly
Job Type: Part-time 28 to 30 hrs biweekly | Onsite

Your Day to Day:

As a Personal Support Worker (PSW) at Amenida Senior Community, you will play a vital role in supporting the comfort, dignity, and well-being of our residents. You’ll work closely with the care team to deliver personalized care, build meaningful relationships, and contribute to a safe, respectful, and vibrant living environment.

Resident Care & Daily Living Support:

• Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, and mobility.

• Provide support with basic care needs as outlined in care plans, including medication reminders if applicable.

• Monitor and report changes in health, behavior, or needs to the supervisor or healthcare team.

Emotional & Social Support:

• Foster companionship and emotional comfort through positive interactions.

• Encourage engagement and participation in daily routines and activities.

Safety & Cleanliness:

• Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for all residents.

• Adhere to all health and safety protocols and follow organizational policies and procedures.

Documentation & Communication:

• Accurately document all care provided in a timely manner, maintaining resident confidentiality.

• Collaborate with other team members to ensure consistent and high-quality care.

Education & Certification:

• Completion of a recognized and accredited Personal Support Worker program.

• Valid PSW certification in Ontario (or applicable province).

Experience:

• At least 1 year of experience in a healthcare, long-term care, or supportive living environment is preferred.

Skills & Abilities:

• Physical ability to assist with lifting, mobility, and personal care tasks.

• Ability to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, overnights, and weekends.
