Job summary

Spectrum Health Care (SHC) is seeking a Personal Support Worker to provide compassionate in-home care in Richmond Hill and surrounding areas. Responsibilities include assisting with daily living activities, assessing patient needs, and coordinating with supervisors to deliver Total Care resources.

Qualified candidates will hold a PSW certificate (or equivalent), or be an RN/RPN student in year one, or an internationally licensed nurse.

Qualifications

• G2/G license with access to a vehicle
• Physical ability to meet job demands (standing, bending, walking, crouching, kneeling, reaching, lifting 23 kg)
• Exceptional personal care and customer service abilities
• Valid Standard First Aid and Level C CPR
• Valid Vulnerable Sector Criminal Check
• Updated immunization record including TB test (last 6 months)
• Proficient verbal and written English communication skills (additional languages welcome)

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care and assistance with daily living activities in clients' residences or facilities.
• Continuously assess and respond to changing needs of patients; coordinate with Total Care resources as appropriate.
• Perform delegated tasks under supervision of a Home Support Supervisor.
• Travel within the assigned region between patients' residences or facilities.

Personal Support Workers (PSW)

Position located in Richmond Hill. Eligible hires may receive up to $10,000 in government incentives, terms and program requirements may apply.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care and assistance with activities of daily living (bathing, toileting, skincare, light meal preparation, feeding, etc.) in personal residences or facilities.
• Continuously assess, anticipate, identify, and respond to new and changing needs of patients, and communicate available Total Care resources to patients when appropriate.
• Perform delegated and/or assigned tasks under the supervision of a Home Support Supervisor.
• Staff are required to travel within the assigned region between patients’ residences or facilities.

Qualifications

• Have one of the following qualifications (required):
• Valid Personal Support Worker Certificate from a Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities or a Ministry of Education approved program.
• RN/RPN Student who, with a minimum successful completion of year one of the program.
• Internationally licensed Nurse, Midwife or Physician.
• G2/G license with access to a vehicle.
• Physical ability to meet the demands of the job (e.g., ability to stand, bend, walk, crouch, kneel and reach freely for extended periods, ability to lift 23 kg independently, ability to assist clients with standing, walking, sitting; able to reposition clients in bed).
• Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional personal care and customer service.
• Valid Standard First Aid and Level C CPR.
• Valid Vulnerable Sector Criminal Check.
• Updated immunization record including TB Test (last 6 months).
• Proficient verbal and written English communication skills (additional language skills considered an asset).
