Job summary

Spectrum Health Care is hiring Personal Support Workers (PSWs) to support clients in King City, Nobleton, Kleinburg and Bolton. You will provide essential personal care and daily living assistance in clients’ homes or facilities, while traveling within the region to reach patients efficiently.

Applicants must have a PSW certificate (or equivalent), and may be RN/RPN students or internationally licensed nurses. First Aid/CPR Level C and a Vulnerable Sector Check are required.

Qualifications

• Valid Personal Support Worker Certificate from a recognized program or equivalent.
• RN/RPN student who completed year one of the program or internationally licensed nurse is acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care and assistance with daily living activities in clients' homes or facilities.
• Continually assess and respond to changing needs and communicate resources.
• Perform delegated tasks under supervision of a Home Support Supervisor.
• Travel within the assigned region between patients’ residences or facilities.

Job Description

Personal Support Workers play a pivotal role in our health care system. At Spectrum Health Care, they work closely with our patients and their families, providing personal care and support with activities of daily living. The care provided by Personal Support Workers ensures patients can recover safely from an acute illness or remain in their homes throughout the aging process.

• Provide personal care and assistance with activities of daily living (bathing, toileting, skincare, light meal preparation, feeding etc.) in personal residences or facilities
• Continually assess, anticipate, identify, and respond to new and changing needs of patients and communicate available Total Care resources to patients when appropriate
• Perform delegated and/or assigned tasks under the supervision of a Home Support Supervisor
• Staff are required to travel within assigned region between patients’ residences or facilities

Qualifications

• Have one of the following qualifications (required):
  • Valid Personal Support Worker Certificate from a Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities or the Ministry of Education approved program
  • RN/RPN Student who completed at least year one of the program
  • Internationally licensed Nurse, Midwife or Physician
• G2/G License with access to a vehicle
• Physical ability to meet the demands of the job (e.g., stand, bend, walk, crouch, kneel, reach freely for extended periods, lift 23 kg independently, assist clients with standing, walking, sitting, reposition clients in bed)
• Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional personal care and customer service
• Valid Standard First Aid and Level C CPR
• Valid Vulnerable Sector Criminal Check
• Updated immunization record including TB Test (last 6 months)
• Proficient verbal and written English communication skills (Additional language skills considered an asset)
