Job Description

- Department: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
- Reports to: Nurse Manager
- Work Model: On-Site
- Wage Range: $31.00 - $31.89 per hour (start rate is non-negotiable and in accordance with collective agreement requirements)
- Hours: 37.5 Hours per week
- Shifts: 8 Hour Shifts, Evenings, Weekdays & Weekends
- Status: Temporary Full-Time (6-12 Months)
- Closing Date: May 29, 2025
Duties
- Assist patients with activities of daily living: feeding, lifts and transfers, bathing, skin care, oral hygiene, and toileting.
- Perform delegated tasks by RN or RPN, with appropriate training, under supervision, including procedures involving body cavities or under the dermis.
- Communicate and demonstrate basic information according to the patient’s Plan of Care.
- Report and document unsafe conditions, behavioral, physical, or cognitive changes in patients, and report safety concerns to supervising health providers.
- Complete and maintain patient records and progress notes as per hospital policy.
Qualifications
- Successful completion of an accredited PSW program (e.g., George Brown College, Centennial, Humber, Mohawk, etc.)
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certificate
- Registration with the Health and Supportive Care Providers Oversight Authority (HSCPOA)
- Behavioral management training (e.g., PIECES, U-First, CPI) is an asset
- Ability to handle daily physical exertion (standing, walking, reaching, etc.) on an occasional to frequent basis
