Job summary

AgeCare is seeking a Personal Support Worker (PSW) to join our Burlington, ON community on a part-time basis. The PSW will provide resident care per care plans, assist with daily activities, and support a safe, respectful living environment.

You will participate in in-service sessions, help onboard new staff, and maintain high standards of sanitation and IPAC practices, contributing to the wellbeing and dignity of our residents.

Qualifications

• Graduate of PSW certificate/diploma program.
• Meets vocational standards set by applicable Ontario authorities.
• Knowledge of sanitation and bedside care for geriatric residents.

Responsibilities

• Assist in providing care per plan and monitor resident needs.
• Document information related to resident care as directed.
• Attend in-service sessions, staff meetings, and workshops.
• Assist in onboarding of new staff as directed.
• Follow IPAC policies and procedures.

The Opportunity

The Personal Support Worker (PSW) is responsible for providing care to residents according to their care plans and assisting in the identification of resident needs. The PSW assists in maintaining a safe and secure environment for residents, visitors, and other staff members.

What You Will Do

• Assists in the monitoring of care given to residents ensuring it is in accordance with the established plan of care by observing residents and reporting findings to immediate supervisor.
• Assists in the documentation of information pertaining to the care of residents as directed.
• Attends in-service education sessions, staff meetings, and workshops as directed.
• Assists in the onboarding of new staff as directed.
• Must follow IPAC (Infection Prevention and Control) policies and procedures.

What You Bring

• Graduate of Personal Support Worker Certificate/Diploma Program.
• Meet the vocational standards established by the Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities.
• Meet the standards established by the National Association of Career Colleges.
• Meet the standards established by the Ontario Community Support Association.
• Knowledge of procedures and techniques involved in administering simple treatments and related bedside care to residents. Must understand the basics of good sanitation and cleaning techniques and be knowledgeable with respect to the needs of geriatric residents.
