JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Long-Term Care (LTC) Coordinator and general supervision of the LTC Manager, the Personal Support Worker (PSW) is responsible for providing care to residents in Long-Term Care that meet their supportive, physical, and psycho-social needs; including assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs), personal care, safety and comfort.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certified Personal Support Worker or currently enrolled in a registered nursing or registered practical nursing program.
  • A genuine interest in and understanding of the needs of the elderly.
  • Ability to motivate groups and individuals in recreational activities.
  • Knowledge of good bedside nursing care and experience in providing personal care and support.
  • Ability to build and maintain compassionate, caring interpersonal relationships.
  • Ability and competency in working under pressure
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and maintain organization
  • Proficient and tactful in written communication and oral communication while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Competent and capable both when working alone and as a member of a team.
  • Able to fulfil the physical demands of the role.
