Job description

We are currently hiring Full Time/Part Time and Day/Evening Personal Support Workers (PSW) for Community Care in Leamington, Belle River, and surrounding areas.

Return of Service (ROS): $10,000 to recent PSW graduates in exchange for a 12-month commitment to work full-time in a long-term care home or within the community.

Qualifications accepted to work as a PSW:

  • Valid Certificate as a Personal Support Worker (PSW)
  • RN or RPN
  • Nursing student (2 clinical placements completed)
  • Home Support Level 2 or 3 from a recognized curriculum
  • Valid Developmental Support Worker Certificate
  • Foreign-trained healthcare professional – Nurse

Requirements:

  • A valid driver’s license and vehicle for daily use
  • Meet Immunization requirements – MMR, Varicella, TB, Tetanus, COVID
  • Current vulnerable sector check (VSC)
  • Current Standard CPR level C and First Aid
  • Availability to work days (7AM-3PM/8AM-4PM) and every other weekend
  • This position is physically demanding, requiring dexterity, sensory ability, lifting up to 55 pounds, walking, climbing stairs, standing, bending, reaching, and frequent movement.

To be eligible for the PSW ROS, a Personal Support Worker must:

New Graduates:

  • Complete an Ontario PSW training program meeting 2022 standards, on or after April 1, 2023
  • Begin employment with a participating employer between April 1, 2024, and March 31, 2026
  • Commit to 12 months of full-time employment

OR

Previous Graduates (NEW):

  • Previously trained as a PSW
  • Have not worked in a direct care role in Ontario in the past 12 months
  • Begin employment between November 18, 2024, and March 31, 2026
  • Commit to 12 months of full-time employment
