We are currently hiring Part-Time Personal Support Workers (PSW) for our Home Hemodialysis Program

$2500 sign-on bonus + great benefits and a supportive team

The PSW will provide dialysis-related care activities in the patient's home. Registered Nurses from Regional Renal Program hospitals will teach and delegate dialysis-related care activities to PSWs and provide patient-specific training. The PSW’s scope is limited to dialysis-related activities only.

We seek passionate PSWs to join our Dialysis program, offering a new clinical care model that allows patients to receive renal care in their community, including long-term care or home settings.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Attend initial home visits with hospital nurses
  • Participate in hospital orientation (typically 3 weeks)
  • Work comfortably in LTC or home environments
  • Verify and prepare dialysis equipment
  • Follow care plans and troubleshoot machines
  • Respond to emergencies and system alarms
  • Monitor and provide dialysis care as per plan
  • Document assessments, condition changes, incidents
  • Provide post-dialysis care
  • Maintain cleanliness and disinfect equipment
  • Communicate regularly with primary nurses
  • Attend follow-up visits
  • Administer medications as authorized
  • Manage waste post-treatment
  • Maintain treatment records
  • Prepare for emergencies like power or water outages

Requirements:

  • PSW Certificate
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certificates
  • Valid driver’s license (G2 or G) and vehicle, ability to travel
  • Professionalism, responsibility, reliability
  • Excellent attendance record
  • Full-day availability, 7 days/week, shifts vary (3-5 per week including weekends)
  • Proficient with computers and technology
  • Manual dexterity
  • Ability to work independently and in teams
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational skills
  • Ability to advocate for patients and de-escalate issues
  • Flexible and willing to travel within Thunder Bay area
