Job description

Employment Type: PSW Hourly (6 month contract) Bargaining Unit (1 Vacancy)

Work Hours: 12-hour shifts from 8pm to 8am, Sunday to Tuesday, plus an alternative Wednesday shift with 10.5 hours pay. The sites are located at 53 Pape Ave and 63 Pape Ave.

Work Setting: Exclusively onsite at 63 Pape Avenue
Salary: $23.21/hour

Program Overview – Assisted Living Services and Home and Cluster Care

The incumbent reports to the Supervisor and provides support services to clients in their homes or in assisted living or cluster sites. Responsibilities include general PSW duties tailored to the specific program and site, scheduled on an hourly or shift basis.

What You Will Do

  • Work based on program needs, client preferences, and your skill set.
  • Deliver client-centered, professional, and culturally sensitive services.
  • Follow all agency, unit, and program policies, including during orientation and training.
  • Provide services within your scope of practice, as authorized by your certificate and policies.
  • Adhere to health and safety policies.
  • Perform physical tasks such as lifting (10-25 kgs), walking, bending, and operating equipment.
  • Report injuries promptly and participate in return-to-work programs if needed.
  • Confirm work schedules, report absences, and respond to office communications.
  • Use the Alayacare Mobile Application to clock in/out.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and conduct, including during travel and interactions with healthcare professionals.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, clients, and community partners.
  • Follow routines and client care plans.
  • Report to work as scheduled, including in cases of staffing issues or emergencies.
  • Prepare and modify meals, order groceries, and manage supplies.
  • Provide shift change reports and operate emergency contact systems.
  • Document accurately and timely in client records.
  • Address building and maintenance issues promptly.
  • Support client activities to promote their physical and mental well-being.

What You Bring to the Team

  • Personal Support Worker Certificate and NACC Certificate (if applicable).
  • At least one year of experience providing personal care to seniors or disabled adults.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Experience with gerontology and healthcare systems.
  • Food safety knowledge and physical capability for light to moderate lifting.
  • First Aid and CPR certification (asset).
  • Computer literacy and adaptability to different locations.

  • Chinese language skills (required).
