Personal Support Worker

Location: Timiskaming District Secondary School

Vacancy Details: Casual Position 7.5 hours/week (3:00pm – 4:30pm) - until June 26, 2025

District School Board Ontario North East is looking for a Personal Support Worker to assist with the transport of a student (while on a school bus) from the school to the home following the school day.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Assist with the transport of the student (while on a school bus) from the school to the home following the school day (3:00pm-4:30pm)
• Continuously observe the student on the school bus (must report and document unsafe conditions and behavioural, physical, and/or cognitive changes)
• Execute the student’s plan of care related to the complex medical needs (proper established care for student in the event of seizures and other health-related needs)
• Assist with medication related to student’s complex medical needs
• Meet the safety needs of the client and use equipment safely and properly
• Function within the limits of your own experience and knowledge, while practicing safely and competently within the job description
• Complete records and documentation accurately and thoroughly

Position Requirements

• Personal Support Worker (PSW) certificate
• Criminal records check with Vulnerable Sector Screening that is less than 6 months old at time of hire
• Related experience with children with special needs
