Located in beautiful Leamington, Ontario, this brand-new Residence,opening in 2026, will have capacity for 160 residents. Both private and shared accommodations are available, with person-centred care and services, and beautiful open indoor and outdoor living spaces. Scope of the Role:

As aPersonal Support Worker (PS W),you’ll support residents with daily living activities, promote independence, and ensure their well-being, comfort, and dignity. Reporting to the Director of Care and Home Area (HA) Supervisor, you’ll work closely with the care team to deliver personalized, respectful care.

Responsibilities:

  • Embody our person-centred living philosophy
  • Support residents with personal care and all Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), promoting independence and choice.
  • Monitor and report changes in residents’ physical and emotional well-being to registered staff.
  • Accurately document care and daily activities in electronic health records.
  • Communicate professionally with residents, families, and team members.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and supportive environment, following all health and safety protocols.
  • Assist with meals, nourishment delivery, and feeding support as needed.
  • Participate in care conferences and contribute to individualized care planning.
  • Use Gentle Persuasive Approaches (GPA) when managing responsive behaviours.
  • Safely operate mechanical lifts and follow safe transfer techniques.
  • Ensure personal care items are clean, labeled, and accessible.
  • Uphold all home policies, including the Code of Conduct, Mission, Vision, Values, and Residents’ Bill of Rights.
  • Perform other duties as required to support resident care and home operations.

Qualifications:

  • PSW certification from a Ministry-approved program of at least 600 hours, including class and practical experience.
  • Registration with HSCPOA preferred.
  • RNs, RPNs, or students in these programs may qualify if approved by the Director of Care.
  • Experience with person-centered care philosophy.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills focused on residents’ emotional well-being and positive interactions.
  • French speaking an asset

Compliance & Health Requirements:

  • A current Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) completed within the past six months, or willingness to obtain one.
  • TB test results dated within the last six months, or within 14 days of hire; alternatively, a chest X-ray completed within the last year, in accordance with Public Health guidelines.
  • Proof of all required vaccinations must be provided. Staying "up to date" with recommended vaccines is strongly encouraged. Requirements are subject to change based on Employer directives.
