KO Health Services is a progressive organization consisting of six (6) First Nations communities (Deer Lake, Fort Severn, Keewaywin, North Spirit Lake, and Poplar Hill). The occupant of this position must be committed to a community development philosophy, embrace the primary health care model, and demonstrate the ability to be a good team player.
Reporting to the Keewaytinook Okimakanak Home & Community Care (HCC) Nurse Supervisor and PSW Lead, the PSW will provide personal care, respite assistance, and, on occasion, home management to clients based on the assessed need. The personal care will be supervised by the KO HCC Nurse Supervisor and carried out according to the approved care plan. The goal is to promote the client’s ability to live independently within their own home.
The PSW will work under the co-direction of the Health Director for day-to-day supervision while reporting daily to the HCC Nurse Supervisor. KO’s HCC Nurse Supervisor will be responsible for professional supervision, and the KO Director of Nursing will monitor and administer the overall operation of the HCC program.

- Assistance with eating
- Routine foot and nail care
- Getting ready for bed
- Maintaining medical regimes
- Toileting
- Dressing
- Transferring
- Activation
- Skin care (including assessments)
- Promoting self-reliance
- Menu planning
- General household cleaning
- Meal preparation
To provide attendant services or respite care according to the client’s care plan for one of the following purposes:
- Supervision of clients who cannot be left alone
- Providing care to a very ill client in the home
- Completes annual performance appraisals
- Participates in continuing education sessions as requested by KO HCC Nurse Supervisor
- Assists KO HCC Nurse Supervisor with maintaining an accurate inventory list of medical supplies and recommends purchases for community home care needs
- Any other duties as requested by KO Health Director
- PSW certification or willingness to be trained
- Experience in the health field
- Personal care or homemaking experience
- Grade 12
- Excellent verbal and written skills
- Ability to speak Oji-Cree
