Job summary

Elder Catherine Charles Long-term Care Home in La Ronge, SK is seeking a compassionate Personal Care Worker to provide direct care and support to residents. This role requires organization, flexibility, and teamwork in a fast-paced long-term care setting.

You will work 12-hour shifts on a rotating schedule, assisting with daily living activities, meals, mobility, and transportation to appointments. A Continuing Care Aide certificate is required, with First Aid/CPR and Safe Food Handling

Qualifications

• Continuing Care Aide Certificate required; Grade 12+ or equivalent.
• First Aid, CPR and Safe Food Handling certificates required or willing to obtain.
• Ability to work independently and with the Elder Home team; strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Support and supervise elderly individuals on medical appointments or outings.
• Provide personal care per care plan: grooming, bathing, hygiene, dressing, mobility.
• Assist with activities of daily living and mealtime support.
• Assess residents' needs on an ongoing basis and maintain facility sanitation.
• Work 12-hour rotating shifts; overtime may be required.
• Follow supervisor directions and perform other duties as assigned.

About the facility

Elder Catherine Charles Long-term Care Home is responsible for the provision of quality care to clients by providing personal care and respite assistance to clients based on their assessed needs. This is a 24- hour, 365 days' facility that provides level 1, 2 and 3 cares to residents admitted into the facility. The main goals are to provide direct care and monitor residents' health conditions.

About the position

Working 12-hour shifts with a rotating schedule, Personal Care Workers are responsible for client care, guidance, support and supervise individuals while in the care of LLRIBHS; Use a team approach to plan, organize and supervise daily activities; prepare and serve meals as planned; Administer prescribed medications;

Duties

• Support and supervise elderly individuals on Medical Appointments or outings;
• Proving personal care according to the approved care plan for clients, such a physical exercise, personal hygiene, (grooming), bathing, dressing, changing depends;
• Assisting clients with activities of daily living, assisting clients at mealtime, caring of bed ambulatory patients;
• Assess needs of residents on an on-going basis;
• Maintain sanitation of Long-term Care Home;
• 12- hour shift with rotating schedule (Overtime may be required);
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor;

Qualifications

• Continuing Care Aide Certificate required; Minimum grade 12 or equivalent;
• Certified First Aide & CPR and Safe Food Handling Certificate required or willing to obtain;
• Must be able to work independent and collaboratively with the Elder Home team, and demonstrate strong organizational skills;
• Strong Written and verbal communication;
• Previous home care or childcare experience is an asset;
• Experience working with First Nations Communities is an asset;
• Must Possess a valid Class 5 Driver's License;
• Ability to speak/understand Cree is a definite asset;
