Job description

About the facility: The Licensed Group Home is responsible for providing guidance, support, and supervision for individuals with Cognitive, Mental, and Physical Disabilities that require 24/7 care.

About the position: Working 12-hour shifts with a rotating schedule, Personal Care Workers support and supervise individuals with physical abilities; use a team approach to plan, organize, and supervise daily activities; prepare and serve meals as planned; administer prescribed medications.

Duties:

  1. Support and supervise individuals with physical disabilities;
  2. Use a team approach to plan, organize, and supervise daily activities, recreational and other services;
  3. Prepare and serve meals as planned;
  4. Assess needs of residents on an ongoing basis;
  5. Maintain sanitation of the Group Home;
  6. Work 12-hour shifts with a rotating schedule;
  7. Other duties as assigned by supervisor;

Qualifications:

  1. Grade 12; combination of education and experience may be considered;
  2. Continuing Care Aide Certificate, Personal Care Worker Certificate, or Home Health Aide certificate required;
  3. Certified First Aid & CPR and Safe Food Handling Certificate required or willing to obtain;
  4. Must be able to work independently and collaboratively with the Group Home team, and demonstrate strong organizational skills;
  5. Strong written and verbal communication;
  6. Previous home care or childcare experience is an asset;
  7. Experience working with First Nations Communities is an asset;
  8. Must possess a valid Class 5 Driver’s License;
