Job summary

Global Healthcare Solutions is seeking an experienced Personal Care Assistant to join our care team in Halifax. You will provide personal care to residents in accordance with their care plans, ensuring dignity and comfort through daily living activities.

You will support residents with hygiene, transfers, and clinical tasks as directed by the Charge Nurse, while maintaining accurate documentation and reporting changes promptly to your supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with hygiene and daily living activities including bathing, dressing, oral care, skin care, positioning, feeding and transferring.
• Assist in admission and in-house transfers as directed by the charge nurse.
• Answer resident call bells and respond promptly to needs.
• Keep resident rooms tidy and organized; make beds and prepare rooms for new admissions.
• Observe changes in residents' condition and report observations to supervisor.

Job description

Our client is a private home care center located in the heart of Halifax and is currently seeking an experienced Personal Care Assistant to join our care team. As a Personal Care Assistant , you will provide client personal care to residents in accordance with their care plans in order to meet the individual residents’ needs. -Daily tasks assigned by the Charge Nurse (supervisor)

• Assist residents with hygiene and daily living activities including bathing, dressing, oral care, skin care, positioning in bed, feeding, and transferring.
• Assist in admission and in-house transfers as directed by the charge nurse.
• Answer resident call bells.
• Keep resident rooms tidy and organized.
• Clean and make beds, strip beds and room of discharged residents.
• Measure and record intake and outputs.
• Share in observing changes in resident’s condition and report observations to immediate supervisor.

Requirements

• Standard First Aid or Basic Life Support - CPR
• Successful completion of CCA/PCW course
• Alzheimer course preferred
• Experience in a similar environment is considered an asset
• Effective communication, both written and verbal in English
• Personal care of residents including restorative care and the ability to lift up to 50lbs
