Description

The Personal Banking Officer is responsible for outbound, banker-initiated contact with members using branch renewal lists, branch, and marketing lead lists. The role focuses on understanding and meeting members' banking needs, consolidating share of wallet, and referring members to more senior bankers. Sales are driven by appointments generated through proactive calling and upselling referrals provided by other sales professionals.

The officer contributes to meeting team sales goals by assessing members' financial needs and providing medium to high complexity product and service solutions in credit and investment sectors. They recognize and act on referrals and sales opportunities, maintaining relationships with business partners to optimize opportunities.

Major Responsibilities
  1. Contribute to the growth and maintenance of the business and community portfolio.
  2. Source, investigate, and analyze product requests from various sources, including accounts, organizations, and competitors.
  3. Manage relationships with commercial accounts, co-operatives, and non-profit organizations.
  4. Meet sales targets by delivering suitable products and services.
  5. Proactively promote and deliver banking products and services.
  6. Participate actively in branch meetings, initiatives, and campaigns.
  7. Use effective sales interviewing skills to uncover long-term financial needs.
  8. Provide financial advice for moderate solutions using financial calculators.
  9. Refer high-value relationships to internal and external partners.
  10. Maintain knowledge of all products and procedural updates.
  11. Apply risk-based pricing models and exercise rational pricing discretion.
  12. Utilize sales and service tools for member interactions.
  13. Develop and implement a proactive member call plan.
  14. Follow up on self-generated and referral leads.
  15. Identify personal development opportunities and participate in coaching.
  16. Ensure compliance with anti-money laundering guidelines.
  17. Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Satisfy members' short and long-term financial needs.
  • Note any policy exceptions when recommending credit approval.
Qualifications

Education / Certification / Experience

  • Post-secondary education with 3 years of related experience or equivalent.
  • Proven sales track record.
  • Enrolled in Financial Planning or similar programs.
  • Experience in providing credit solutions.

Knowledge / Skills

  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, and business knowledge skills.
  • Good knowledge of investment, lending, and mortgage products.
  • Proficiency in computer applications such as Excel and Word.
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Negotiation skills for member solutions and sales.
