Description

This role serves as an ambassador for new and existing members of Alterna. The incumbent will assess members' needs, identify opportunities for cross-selling and up-selling, and provide appropriate education, advice, products, and services. They will also refer members with complex needs to specialized staff. Additionally, the role involves maintaining a cash drawer and providing member service.

The Personal Banking Associate contributes to the team’s sales plan by assessing members’ financial needs and offering suitable product and service solutions. The role primarily involves member-initiated contact, promoting and delivering banking products and services.

Major Responsibilities

  • Follow all sales and service processes.
  • Meet sales targets by providing products and services that meet members’ primary needs.
  • Probe to uncover additional needs for cross-selling and up-selling during member interactions.
  • Provide education and advice on transactional banking, investments, and credit situations.
  • Accurately perform transaction posting, cash management, administrative tasks, and security procedures.
  • Identify and refer high-value or high-potential members to appropriate staff.
  • Maximize growth and retention through opportunity spotting, contributing to branch goals.
  • Participate in branch meetings, huddles, sales initiatives, and campaigns.
  • Be available for walk-in traffic and member-initiated contact.
  • Act as part of both the MSR and Sales teams.
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of all products and procedural updates.
  • Use sales and service tools effectively during member interactions.
  • Set and pursue personal development plans.
  • Participate in goal setting and coaching sessions.
  • Comply with anti-money laundering and other regulatory guidelines.
  • Engage in community initiatives as directed by the branch or Alterna.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education / Certifications / Experience

  • Post-secondary education with at least 2 years of sales experience or equivalent.
  • Experience in financial services is an asset.
  • Proven sales experience.
  • Experience in providing credit solutions is an asset.

Knowledge / Skills

  • Knowledge of investments, loans, and basic mortgages.
  • Basic sales skills for opportunity spotting and needs analysis.
  • Proficiency in computer applications like Excel and Word.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
