Personal Banking Associate (Hybrid) (12 month term)

Description

Status : 12 months Term (maternity leave) - Full Time Hours - 37.5 hours per week

Scope of Position

This is a dual role serving as an ambassador for new and existing members of Alterna. The incumbent must quickly assess members’ needs at every contact, identify cross-sell and up-sell opportunities, and provide appropriate education, advice, products, and services. They will also identify members with complex needs and refer them to branch partners or Senior Bankers. Additionally, this role involves maintaining a cash drawer and servicing members.

The Personal Banking Associate contributes to the team’s sales plan by effectively assessing members’ financial needs and offering product and service solutions. They proactively promote and upsell banking products, primarily dealing with member-initiated contact.

Major Responsibilities

  • Follow all sales and service processes.
  • Meet sales targets by delivering suitable products and services.
  • Probe to uncover additional needs for cross-selling and up-selling.
  • Provide education and advice on transactional banking, investments, and credit situations.
  • Accurately perform transaction posting, cash management, and administrative procedures.
  • Identify and refer high-value or high-potential members to appropriate staff.
  • Maximize growth and retention through opportunity spotting, contributing to branch goals.
  • Participate in branch meetings, huddles, sales initiatives, and campaigns.
  • Be available for walk-in traffic and member-initiated contact.
  • Act as part of both MSR and Sales teams.
  • Maintain knowledge of all products and procedural changes.
  • Proficiently use sales and service tools to support member interactions.
  • Identify personal development opportunities and participate in goal setting and coaching.
  • Comply with anti-money laundering and other regulatory guidelines.
  • Participate in community initiatives as determined by the branch or organization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education / Certifications / Experience

  • Post-secondary education with a minimum of 2 years experience in sales or equivalent.
  • Financial services industry experience is an asset.
  • Proven sales experience.
  • Experience in providing credit solutions is an asset.

  • Knowledge of investments, loans, and basic mortgages.
  • Basic sales skills for opportunity spotting and needs assessment.
  • Proficiency in computer applications such as Excel and Word.
