YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Reporting to the Manager, Environmental Permitting, Major Projects (Ontario), you will be part of the Environmental Department. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct, and the environment.

  • Lead the permitting processes of all major projects and support site environmental team as required for other authorizations of the regular activities;
  • Provide proactive planning, preparation, and submission of regulatory permitting requirements, operating permits/licenses, with respect to the operations plans and new development projects at the Hammond Reef Project and other sites if required;
  • Liaise with various project teams to coordinate permit and approval sequencing to meet project timelines and deliverables;
  • Execute engagement and consultation activities as required for permit and approval submissions, gather feedback, and incorporate as needed;
  • Identify potential risks or challenges associated with project permitting timelines, and identify mitigations or solutions;
  • Ensure permitting requirements are aligned with site objectives;
  • Manage and lead internal consultant resources (budget, quality, schedule, etc.) required to support permitting initiatives;
  • Delegate tasks effectively and ensure clear communication among team and project members;
  • Support the site to ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and local ordinances concerning environmental standards and legislation, regulations, and permits;
  • Provide guidance and proper instructions to operations personnel for planning, scheduling, and closeout of projects from an environmental permitting perspective;
  • Ensure all documentation is properly prepared.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Management or a related field;
  • 7 years of experience in mining environmental roles, with at least 3 years in permitting;
  • Knowledge of relevant federal regulations and standards governing mining operations in Canada;
  • Knowledge and experience with relevant provincial regulations and standards governing mining operations in Ontario;
  • Experience engaging and collaborating with Indigenous Nations and communities;
  • Ability to travel to sites and Indigenous communities to participate in events and discuss technical aspects;
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications, especially Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Your Work Schedule:

  • Schedule: 40 hours per week, from Monday to Friday. A combination of teleworking with presence at either our Hammond Reef project in Atikokan, ON, or at one of our Ontario Regional Offices in Timmins, North Bay, or Sudbury, ON;
  • Frequent travel to other Agnico Eagle sites, offices, and nearby communities will be required.
