Job description

This position will be a 1.0 FTE position that includes both permanent and occasional teaching responsibilities. The occasional portion of this position is to be used to fill same-day absences/unfilled assignments at the school or pay back prep time or lost teaching support time to teachers at the school.

Designated Occasional Teacher (DOT) is an occasional teacher assigned to a specific school location for daily occasional teacher work. The DOT is utilized to cover same day absences or to pay back preparation and planning time to permanent/LTO teachers.

Process for selection:

  1. The school board shall identify the three most senior eligible applicants to the permanent assignment and hold the required qualifications for the assignment.
  2. The applicants shall be contacted and asked to confirm that they wish to be interviewed for the position.
  3. Each of the applicants shall then be interviewed.

Salaries and Allowances:

The salary and allowances of each Teacher shall be determined in accordance with Article 32 of the OECTA Collective Agreement. Effective September 1, 2024, teacher salaries will range from $49,984.00 to $117,018.00.
