Job summary

Extendicare in London, Ontario, seeks a Permanent Interim Janitor (Full-time) to maintain and repair building systems at Elmwood Place. The role covers HVAC, plumbing, electrical, painting, and general upkeep in a long-term care setting.

You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnose issues, document findings, and support housekeeping and operations as required. Flexibility for hours is expected to meet home needs.

Qualifications

• Experience in maintenance, electrical, plumbing, painting, and general repairs.
• Maintenance courses are preferred.
• Ability to perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs on building systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical building systems.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot building maintenance problems and determine corrective actions.
• Repair plumbing fixtures, valves, drains, and related components; replace lighting components, switches, and fixtures.
• Inspect mechanical rooms, building equipment, and systems; document deficiencies.
• Complete scheduled preventive-maintenance work orders and maintain records of repairs and inspections.
• Assist the Manager with maintenance, housekeeping, inspections, supply management, and other duties as required.
• Work additional hours to support maintenance operations, housekeeping coverage, emergencies, or other needs.

## Permanent Interim Janitor (Full-time) - Elmwood PlaceApply: Elmwood Place - 3400 Morgan Avenue, London, Ontario: Full time: Posted Today: R35551**Job Description****Qualifications*** Must have experience in maintenance, electrical, plumbing, painting, and general repairs.* Maintenance courses are preferred.**Job Duties / Responsibilities*** Perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical building systems.* Diagnose and troubleshoot building maintenance problems and determine appropriate corrective actions.* Repair and replace plumbing fixtures, faucets, valves, drains, and related components.* Perform permitted minor electrical work, including replacement of lighting components, switches, receptacles, and other fixtures.* Repair and maintain doors, locks, hinges, cabinets, drywall, walls, and other building components.* Perform painting, surface preparation, drywall repair, patching, caulking, sealing, and general finishing work.* Inspect mechanical rooms, building equipment, and building systems, identify deficiencies, and document findings.* Use hand tools and power tools safely to perform maintenance, adjustments, and installations.* Complete scheduled preventive-maintenance work orders and maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities.* Perform housekeeping and laundry duties as required, including cleaning common areas, offices, hallways, and washrooms; removing garbage and waste; restocking supplies; cleaning and disinfecting surfaces; and maintaining assigned areas in a clean and sanitary condition.* Assist the Manager with maintenance, housekeeping, inspections, supply management, and other operational duties as required.* Work additional hours when required to support maintenance operations, housekeeping coverage, emergencies, or other operational needs.* Important: The position is subject to permanent changes in days and hours of work according to the home's needs.**Physical / Other Requirements*** Able to lift with assistance 160 lb.* Able to lift a maximum of 50 lb independently.* Able to push/pull 100 lb independently.* Able to carry/transport objects up to 25 lb.* Able to stretch, reach, bend, and stoop regularly throughout the shift.* Current and clear criminal record check from a Canadian Police Information Centre, including a vulnerable sector check completed within the last 6 months.**Time Type:**Full time At Extendicare, we’ve spent more than 50 years dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for residents in our long-term care homes across Canada.
