Come work as a Perioperative Unit Assistant at Richmond Hospital with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)!Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Perioperative Unit Assistant to join the Operating Rooms' team at Richmond Hospital in Richmond, BC. Apply today to join our team!

As a Perioperative Unit Assistant you will:

  • Work as a member of an integrated team and plays a significant role in ensuring that surgical patients have a positive experience with the designated services within an operating room/post anesthetic care environment.
  • Perform clerical/receptionist functions in the support of the delivery of client care, including using a variety of computerized applications such as ORMIS, wordprocessing and spreadsheet software.
  • Duties included such as:
    • gathering information,
    • transcribing and processing physicians’ orders,
    • entering data onto computerized systems, communicating approved changes to slates,
    • generating reports for distribution regarding pick list for equipment and supplies,
    • compiling, maintaining and distributing designated operating room usage statistical information,
    • maintaining patient charts,
    • typing technical and non-technical material, maintaining stationery supplies, filing and acting as a receptionist.
Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Grade 12, medical terminology and graduation from a recognized Nursing Unit Clerk program plus one (1) year’s recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge & Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to keyboard 45 w.p.m.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
  • Ability to utilize a variety of computer software applications.
