Agilus is recruiting for a Performance Tester (Cloud) in the Financial Services in a hybrid work environment in Toronto, Ontario. We are seeking a Performance Testing Contractor with deep expertise in open banking environments, especially focused on medium to large-scale projects and high-visibility integrations. The role will involve executing performance testing in a cloud-based environment, with a specific focus on Anthos and eventual migration to Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The contractor will be tasked with running performance tests, building and mocking environments, and collaborating closely with development teams to ensure that performance issues are identified and remediated in a timely manner.

A typical day:

1. Execute and analyze tests using Akamai Cloud Test, JMeter, and other enterprise-grade performance testing tools, providing results that guide optimizations.
2. Perform cloud-based performance testing, ensuring that systems meet high standards of reliability, scalability, and efficiency during the transition to open banking.
3. Engage with development teams to share results and help remediate performance issues, working as the main point of contact for all performance testing activities.
4. Conduct load, stress, and endurance tests, analyzing system performance under various conditions, and identifying any potential bottlenecks or issues.
5. Build and maintain mock environments and mock services (WireMock or similar) to ensure that performance testing is feasible even with incomplete or evolving services.
6. Perform API performance testing to ensure seamless operation across web and mobile applications.
7. Focus on performance testing for mobile-friendly applications, with a strong understanding of how to performance test mobile devices and optimize mobile application performance.
8. Lead end-to-end performance testing for the Open Banking platform, ensuring services meet required performance standards under load conditions.

Successful candidates will have:

1. Dedicated Performance Testing Experience: Proven ability to lead performance testing as a specialized function, not just as part of a broader manual or automation testing effort. Ability to own the full cycle of performance testing, from design to execution and result sharing.
2. Performance Testing Tools Expertise: Proficiency with Akamai Cloud Test, JMeter, or similar enterprise-grade performance testing software to run, analyze, and interpret performance tests.
3. Strong APM Experience: A strong understanding and experience with APM tools such as Dynatrace, enabling effective monitoring and analysis of application performance.
4. Mocking & Environment Setup: Experience with mocking frameworks (WireMock, CALisa, etc.) to create mock environments and mock services for performance testing.
5. Cloud-Native Testing: Familiarity with cloud platforms like Anthos and GCP, specifically testing for scalability, elasticity, and failure recovery in a cloud environment.
6. Mobile Performance Testing: Experience with mobile application performance testing is a significant asset.
7. Leadership & Collaboration: Ability to step into a Performance Engineering Lead role, taking ownership of performance testing for a critical project and collaborating with diverse technical teams.

Soft skills:

1. Strong communication skills to convey technical performance findings and recommendations to both technical teams and business stakeholders.
