PeopleSoft HCM Systems Administrator

Our client requires a senior technical systems administrator for upgrading PeopleSoft software modules to the latest versions. This project involves migrating PeopleSoft Update Manager (PUM) and PeopleTools, applying Critical Patch Updates (CPUs) from Oracle, and updating underlying OS and database technologies. Deliverables include configuration documentation, system design specifications, solution design documents, and Standard Operating Procedures for the upgraded application.

This position is designated as a ‘hybrid position’ which requires the resources to work at the office (with occasional work taking place at other Client facilities) at least 20% of the week. An expectation to work at the New Westminster location and travel to other client locations in the Greater Vancouver Area as requested at consultant’s expense. Resource shall be available during the Clients standard business office hours between 7:30 AM–5 PM Pacific Standard Time.

Responsibilities

  1. Architecting and designing application deployment environments to be robust, secure, reliable, and highly available.
  2. Setting up, configuring, and maintaining all PeopleSoft application environments and accompanying MS SQL Server databases in accordance with industry best practices.
  3. Performing software installation and application of updates.
  4. Application testing and troubleshooting for isolating technical problems within the PeopleSoft Internet Architecture (PIA).
  5. Performance tuning, system monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  6. Load balancing and firewall activities using F5.

Mandatory Requirements

  • Post-secondary qualification in a related field from a recognized institution.
  • 10+ years of PeopleSoft Technical System Administration and upgrade experience.
  • Expert level PeopleSoft (PUM) implementation / upgrade knowledge / experience as well as demonstrated knowledge of HR and Payroll modules.
  • Skills and experience in debugging / troubleshooting techniques for technical issues related to infrastructure components including application / web servers, process scheduler, integration broker, Elasticsearch server, SMTP server, and database.
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with installation and maintenance of PeopleSoft and related components (Tuxedo, Java, WebLogic, Web services, Web servers, Redundancy, PUM, PeopleTools, etc.)
  • Expert knowledge of all aspects of the Oracle PeopleSoft architecture and experience with PeopleSoft v9.2 and PeopleTools v8.62.
  • Experience with MS SQL Server along with a strong understanding of RDBMS and SQL skills.
  • Experience with following best practices for applying server certificates.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts, server administration, and operating system fundamentals.

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience in working with bargaining unit (union) employees within a public sector environment is highly desirable.
