Job summary

NFI Group is seeking a People Services Specialist to support HR operations across the organization. You will manage recruitment, employee relations, policy administration, performance management, and engagement initiatives.

In a fast-paced environment, you will ensure accurate HR processes, maintain HRIS/ATS data, and help foster a collaborative, inclusive workplace that aligns with our safety and quality values.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years HR experience with focus on employee and labour relations and recruitment.
  • Strong knowledge of HR legislation, standards, and best practices.
  • Experience maintaining HRIS/ATS with high accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and administer recruitment and selection, postings, interviews, offers, and approvals.
  • Maintain recruitment database and track recruitment tasks/statistics.
  • Assist with salary market analysis and internal equity considerations.
  • Support HR policy development and rollout, including orientation and training.
  • Provide labour relations guidance to leadership and employees.

Position Summary

The People Services Specialist is a key member of the People & Culture team, providing HR operational support across the organization. This role supports recruitment and selection, employee and labour relations, HR policy and program administration, performance management, and employee engagement initiatives.

Leveraging strong interpersonal skills, sound judgement, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, this position helps ensure accurate execution of HR processes and contributes to a positive workplace.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Coordinates and administers the recruitment and selection process including approvals, determining method of recruitment, preparation of job postings/advertisements, schedule and conduct interviews, reference checks, and prepare and negotiate employment offers.
  • Maintain recruitment database, track recruitment tasks and statistics of recruitment.
  • Investigate alternate recruitment solutions and work with Talent Acquisition and Workforce Development Team as required to ensure recruitment needs are met
  • Program coordination and compliance. Coordinate and administer the round table meetings including scheduling and minute completion, Orientation checklist, 30-day feedback and exit interview compliance, internet and email audits, years of service recognition program
  • Maintain and update human resource information systems and benefit systems with employee data including new hire, classification changes, wage/salary changes, and termination information
  • Complete workplace investigations through the Human Rights Committee, management requests, etc
  • Assist with salary market analysis, benchmarks for new and existing positions. Ensure requests to fill positions are in line with internal equity and industry standards within market
  • Assist with HR orientation training, and other HR training as required
  • Assist in the development and rollout of required Human Resources policies and procedures. Review of Human Resources policies and procedures for required updates
  • Provide labour relation support and guidance to leadership and employees
  • Provide advice and guidance to employees and management regarding recruitment, performance management, harassment/conflict, and progressive discipline issues
  • Maintain employee files and the filing of related correspondence into employee files including performance management, and salary administration documentation
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL
  • Post‑secondary education in Human Resources, a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of HR experience with a focus on employee and labour relations, as well as recruitment and selection
  • Strong working knowledge of HR legislation, employment standards, and HR best practices
  • Experience maintaining Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) and Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, OneNote, and Teams
  • Ability to stay organized in a high-volume environment and shift priorities quickly as needed
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders
