The People Operations Manager will play a critical role in supporting the existing global workforce. You will act as a global HR expert for the wider team, and an HR Business Partner (HRBP) for our Canadian employees, managing all aspects of HR for this group, from onboarding to benefits administration to employee relations. This position also involves ensuring compliance with local regulations, supporting payroll accuracy, and contributing to a positive company culture. The ideal candidate will have a solid HR generalist background, with 3+ years of experience and a keen ability to balance day-to-day operational HR tasks with strategic partnership.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Canada HR Business Partnering (HRBP)
- Oversee existing team member help channel, and respond to all team member inquiries in a timely and professional manner
- Act as the primary HR point of contact for Canadian employees, providing guidance, and support on Canadian specific processes and benefits
- Collaborate with leadership and managers to understand business needs and develop strategies for talent management, employee engagement, and performance improvement.
- Drive employee development and growth by supporting career pathing, coaching, and the implementation of development programs.
- Provide support in organizational change initiatives and advise on employee impact.
- Own and manage Canadian employee benefits programs, including health, dental, and wellness offerings.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all benefit-related inquiries, guiding employees through the options and ensuring a seamless enrollment process.
- Regularly review and evaluate the effectiveness of benefits offerings to ensure competitiveness and compliance with Canadian regulations.
- Liaise with benefits providers to ensure timely updates and accurate information for employees.
Global HR Generalist Duties
- Manage the full employee lifecycle for the global team from onboarding through to offboarding, ensuring a smooth and positive experience for all team members.
- Support performance management processes, including setting goals, facilitating feedback, and tracking progress.
- Provide guidance and support on employee relations issues, such as conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and grievances, ensuring alignment with company policies and legal requirements.
- Act as a trusted advisor to employees, providing information and support regarding policies, workplace issues, and career development.
Payroll Support and Compliance
- Work closely with the Finance team to ensure payroll changes, such as salary adjustments, new hires, and terminations, are accurately reflected in the system.
- Ensure that payroll data is compliant with Canadian labor laws and tax regulations, providing support for any payroll-related inquiries.
- Stay up to date on Canadian labor law changes and regulations to maintain compliance with employment standards, tax laws, and benefits legislation.
- Assist with audits and reporting related to Canadian payroll and benefits.
Cultural and Employee Experience Initiatives
- Play an integral role in fostering a positive and inclusive company culture in Canada, ensuring alignment with the company’s core values and mission.
- Support and help coordinate cultural initiatives, employee events, and company-wide celebrations to maintain engagement and morale.
- Drive employee retention and satisfaction by designing and implementing team member pulse surveys and wellness questionnaires.
Other Responsibilities
- Provide global HR data and metrics for reporting purposes and strategic decision-making.
- Support and collaborate with global teams to align policies and practices across regions.
- Participate in HR projects and initiatives, such as policy updates, and process improvements.
- Assist with the development and execution of internal communications regarding HR policies, updates, and initiatives.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- 3+ years of experience in HR, with a focus on HR generalist functions, employee relations, and HR business partnering.
- Strong understanding of Canadian labor laws, HR best practices, and compliance requirements.
- Experience managing Canadian employee benefits programs, including health, dental, and wellness offerings.
- Familiarity with payroll processes and working with finance teams to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with employees at all levels.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work in a fast-paced, growing environment.
- Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills, with the ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion and professionalism.
- Proficient in HR software, including payroll and benefits management tools (experience with systems like Rippling, Workday, or BambooHR is a plus).
