Job summary

Nature Fresh Farms in Leamington is seeking a People & Culture Generalist to support HR operations, program implementation, and policy guidance. You will advise managers and employees, administer processes, and ensure compliance in a fast-paced environment.

Strong communication, organizational skills, and discretion are essential. A related post-secondary background is preferred, and you will collaborate across Health & Safety, Recruitment, and Leadership teams.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of P&C experience in a dynamic environment.
  • Post-secondary education in People & Culture, Business Administration, Business Management or related field is an asset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications is required.
  • Strong written communication for documentation and investigations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with development and administration of P&C programs and guidelines.
  • Provide guidance to managers, supervisors and employees on policies and procedures.
  • Create, review, and ensure compliance with P&C procedures and SOPs.
  • Support employee inquiries, investigations, and performance discussions.
  • Coordinate recruitment translation and onboarding processes.

We are currently looking to fill a full-time, permanent position for a People & Culture Generalist in our People & Culture Department at our Leamington office.

What You'll Do:
  • Comply with federal, provincial, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation with respect to People & Culture, anticipating new or updated legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on required actions.
  • Assist with the development and administration/training of programs, procedures, and guidelines to help align the workforce with the strategic goals of the company and provide guidance to managers, supervisors and employees with interpretation or advice of such policies and procedures.
  • Create, review, update and ensure compliance with P&C procedures, and SOP's.
  • Assist with employee inquiries/complaints, report incidents, conduct investigations, mediate employee complaints and or work refusals and meet with managers to determine effective remediation techniques.
  • Provides guidance in identifying, evaluating, and resolving employee relations and work related or performance challenges to facilitate communication, improve employee relations, and work performance.
  • Support management and supervisors through the progressive discipline process. Ensuring the draft/review of the necessary documents and administrate discipline in various systems.
  • Support Managers and Supervisors through 3 month and annual performance reviews.
  • Prepare supporting documents and administrate employee leaves/separations.
  • Responsible for maintaining employee files, policies and employee notices.
  • In collaboration with P&C Recruiter support with translation for the recruitment processes including phone screening, interviewing, drafting new hire agreements and conducting orientations.
  • Conduct employee training sessions: Violence & Harassment, Respect in the Workplace, Leadership Training.
  • Collaborate with Health & Safety team acting as a liaison with employees for Occupational and Non-Occupational injuries.
  • Assist with company events i.e. Annual Christmas Party, Employee Appreciation Event etc.
  • Liaise with Ministry of Labour and any other government agencies as a representative for the company.
  • Coordinate and assist with social responsibility audits in collaboration with the team.
  • Actively initiate, participate in, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Liaise with Ministry of Labour and any other government agencies as a representative for the company.
  • Comply with all Health and Safety, Food Safety, Bio Security, and Nature Fresh Policies and Procedure
  • Complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation

What You Bring:
  • 3+ years of P&C experience preferred, ideally in a dynamic, fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Post-secondary education in People & Culture, Business Administration, Business Management, or a related field would be considered an asset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications is required.
  • Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear, accurate, and professional documentation related to employee relations matters, workplace investigations, and performance improvement plans.
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build trust, support employee relations conversations, manage conflict, and develop effective working relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong emotional intelligence, with the ability to communicate with empathy, professionalism, sound judgment, and discretion.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze issues, resolve challenges, and respond effectively to unforeseen complications.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize, multi-task, meet deadlines, and see tasks or projects through to completion.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing as a collaborative team player.
  • Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with tact and discretion.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle are required.
  • Availability to work Monday to Saturday; flexibility to provide after-hours or weekend support for business needs and company events may be required.
What To Expect:
  • Works in an office setting with travel between locations and may be required to work occasionally in the greenhouse with exposure to extreme temperatures and pests.
  • Travel is required between Nature Fresh locations
  • Works with a diverse group of employees, management, and departments.
  • The P&C Generalist works Monday - Friday, occasional holidays and weekends as needed.
