Job description

Are you a data analytics expert with an interest or experience in human resources metrics? We have an opportunity for a People & Culture Advisor to support our People Analytics team. This is an intermediate position that provides an excellent opportunity to build on your analytical and problem-solving skills in an active, large organization.

You'll be part of a central team that provides reporting and analysis on all areas of HR using identified data sets, including understanding the business questions of clients, identifying the right data to answer those questions, and analyzing that data to provide insight.

This opportunity is within our technical work stream, which focuses primarily on the development and maintenance of queries, datasets, and Power BI solutions. However, this position will also work cross-functionally as needed within our advisory work stream, which focuses primarily on consulting with our business clients and presenting insights and analyses. As such, this position requires both an advisory and a technical mindset.

How you'll make a difference:

You'll build and empower teams that serve workers and employers across B.C.

Where you'll work

At WorkSafeBC, we offer a hybrid work model that combines working remotely, and in our offices based on the operational needs of the position. In this role, you will primarily work from the WorkSafeBC Richmond office, with a minimum of one day per week on-site.

Responsibilities:
  1. Work with clients to identify reporting needs and provide analysis and reporting on an ongoing and ad hoc basis.
  2. Use Microsoft Power BI to connect to our data warehouse and prepare reports and dashboards.
  3. Use PeopleSoft Query to download data sets and prepare reports using Power BI and/or Excel.
  4. Partner with our IT team to ensure datasets are integrated into the cloud data warehouse and views are built for analysis.
  5. Maintain security access roles and technical documentation for reports.
  6. Collaborate on developing predictive analytics and statistical models as our practice matures.
  7. Perform advisory duties such as developing metrics, KPIs, and providing insights to clients.
Qualifications:
  • Degree or diploma in human resources, data science, computer science, business analytics, or related field.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel (pivot tables, formulas, VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH).
  • Experience in HR or data analytics, preferably in the public sector or large unionized environment.
  • Knowledge of HRIS systems (PeopleSoft/Oracle) and reporting principles.
  • Good understanding of relational databases.
  • Experience with Power BI and SQL Server Management Studio.
  • Assets include experience with Power Apps, Power Automate, SPSS, Python, R, and CPHR designation.
Additional information:
  • Consent to criminal record check and legal right to work in Canada required.
  • We promote a diverse and inclusive workplace.
