Job Summary
The Pension Advocacy & Research team requires an curious, analytical, hardworking and detailed-oriented coop student to work with the team on a wide range of research and advocacy projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a student currently enrolled in a college or university program in Business, Arts, Public Policy, Communications, Economics, Sociology, or a related field to develop practical research and analytical skills in a professional environment.
What you will do:
- Reporting to the AVP, you will:
- Develop content and prepare presentations/reports for external events and meetings for team members related to pension advocacy and thought leadership research
- Stakeholder mapping and profiling of targeted research organizations and/or individuals
- Information gathering and report development
- Assist with the preparation of Board materials
- Assist with the project management of existing research projects
- Assist with communication campaigns with stakeholders and The Pension Collective
- Provide support with the preparation of materials and communications products for external Administrative Support
- Maintains divisional templates and create additional templates to ensure consistent standards throughout the division
- Provides other administrative duties and support as required including reports, presentations, project coordination and meeting organization
- Event and Project Coordination
- Monitors and updates PAR calendar providing an overview of divisional initiatives
- Monitors deadlines and progress of various initiatives (stakeholder mailings, business development mailings)
- Identifies delays or other obstacles that may impede project success, and proactively notify the team
- Research and identifies relevant conferences and other stakeholder events for participation
- Assist with event logistics as needed, (source venue, appropriate room and configuration, ensure presentations and A/V equipment are functional, arrange catering)
- Research & Analysis
- Gather, organize, and summarize information from a variety of sources to support research and advocacy initiatives
- Support stakeholder mapping and profiling activities to identify key organizations, decision-makers, and industry influencers.
- Assist with the preparation of research reports, presentations, briefing notes, and other knowledge-sharing materials.
- Identify emerging trends and opportunities relevant to pensions, healthcare, and workforce issues.
What you will bring:
- Currently enrolled in a degree program in Business, Market Research, Economics, Public Policy, Sociology, Political Science, Communications, or a related field.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and concisely.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Experience analyzing quantitative and qualitative research data and translating findings into actionable insights.
- Experience conducting environmental scans, literature reviews, or stakeholder research is an asset
- Familiarity with data visualization, reporting, or survey tools is an asset
- Standard skills Microsoft office abilities (Excel/PowerPoint), strong research, communications, and inter-personal skills
- Experience using Microsoft Office applications, such as Word (word processing) and Excel (spreadsheets), as well as databases (ie. CRM Microsoft Dynamics), email, and the internet to conduct research and prepare a variety of documents.
- Input data accurately and generate reports, paying close attention to detail.

The expected hourly rate range for this role is $21.00 to $31.00 The actual hourly rate offered to the successful candidate may vary based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, individual's expertise and level of experience applicable to the role they are being offered.
