The Jean Augustine Centre for Young Women's Empowerment is now accepting mentor applications for our Look Up! Lift Up! Peer Mentorship Program, starting September 2025.

This transformative program pairs young women ages 18-30 with girls ages 7-17 in 6 month to 1-year long mentorship relationships designed to support their mental health and personal development.

Responsibilities

Plan outings and activities ahead of time, ensuring that they align with the mentee’s safety, interests, and age.

Serve as a positive role model for the mentee.

Actively listen to your mentee & provide encouragement for building self-confidence and self-esteem.

Offer mentee constructive and meaningful advice and feedback.

Act as a resource for information about careers.

Celebrates milestones and achievements with mentee.

Completes all administrative responsibilities pertaining to the program, including filling out monthly check-ins, confirming attendance for monthly workshops and other special events or field trips, and responding to communications in a timely manner.

Complete in person and online training

Be able to build a developmental relationship with youths

Be trustworthy, energetic, mature, stable, reliable, accepting, patient, caring and respectful of others

Be supportive and non-judgmental in your interactions with children and youth

Promote the welfare and safety of the child or youth
