Overview

The Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) has an immediate opportunity for a Pediatrician to join the Department of Pediatrics at the North Island Comox Valley Hospital in Comox.

Role details

Location: North Island Comox Valley Hospital, Comox, BC. The hospital opened in October 2017 and has 153 inpatient beds, serving a population of approximately 66,000. It is a referral center for several specialties. The successful candidate will share call (1:4).

Academic affiliation with the University of British Columbia (UBC) postgraduate programs and is a teaching hospital. We have a Family Practice Residency Program and are involved in medical student and residency teaching. Start date: as soon as possible.

Community

Located in the north central region of Vancouver Island, the seaside Town of Comox, with nearby Courtenay and Cumberland, is a growing area. The Comox Valley offers access to Mt. Washington, Strathcona Park and the Desolation Sound area, with a range of recreational and cultural amenities.

Compensation and benefits

Compensation Type: Fee-for-Service

May be eligible for additional remuneration under Rural Subsidy arrangements, including:

  • Fee Premium - 6.93%
  • Annual Flat Fee - $10,739.52
  • Recruitment Incentive - $10,000
  • Relocation Costs - up to $15,000
  • Rural CME: Years 3 & 4 - $3,000/annum; after year 4 - $6,000/annum
