Overview:
We are currently seeking a dedicated and collaborative Consulting Pediatrician to join a well-established healthcare system serving a regional population of approximately 170,000 in the Grey Bruce Region. Based at the Owen Sound Hospital, this role offers the opportunity to practice in a supportive environment with access to a Level 2B Intensive Care Nursery, routinely admitting neonates of 32 weeks’ gestation and above. The unit is equipped to provide non-invasive ventilation, total parenteral nutrition (TPN), and emergency neonatal care as required. Tertiary support is readily available through close partnerships with the Children’s Hospital at London Health Sciences Centre.

• Five dedicated pediatric ward beds, with admitting privileges to the ICU for pediatric patients.
• Well-newborn care for over 800 deliveries annually at Owen Sound Hospital.
• Two dedicated pediatric mental health beds, managed by a full-time Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist.
• Active participation in a teaching program affiliated with Western University and McMaster University, offering opportunities to engage in medical education and mentor residents in pediatric medicine.

What you will be doing:

• Provide comprehensive pediatric care to inpatients and outpatients, addressing a wide range of medical, developmental, and mental health conditions.
• Provide Pediatric Hospitalist and Well-Newborn care, covering inpatient pediatric and neonatal patients on a rotating schedule of 1 week in every 5.
• Participate in equitable on-call coverage, currently structured as 24-hour home-call shifts, shared among 5 full-time pediatricians, with plans to expand to 7 FTEs in the coming years. This equates to an average of 6–7 call days per month, including 1 in 5 weekends.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, actively participating in efforts to enhance patient outcomes and optimize care delivery.

What you must have:

• Certification in Pediatrics from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) or equivalent.
• Eligible for independent practice in Ontario and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO).
• International Medical Graduates (IMGs) are welcome to apply; support for licensing and credentialing is available.

Salary/Rate Range: $350,000 – $500,000
