Job summary

IWK Health in Halifax, Nova Scotia, is seeking a Social Worker (MSW) to join Rehabilitation Services. You will work within interprofessional teams to support children and families in inpatient and ambulatory clinics, conducting psychosocial assessments, providing individual and family therapy and coordinating care across health care and community resources.

Requirements include a Master’s in Social Work, eligibility for NSCSW registration, and at least 2 years of pediatric clinical experience.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Social Work required.
• Current license/registration or eligibility for licensure with NSCSW required.
• Minimum two (2) years of clinical experience as a master's prepared Social Worker required.
• Clinical pediatric experience preferred.
• Knowledge of the Child and Family Services Act required.
• Clinical experience in assessment and intervention for children with developmental/neurological disabilities and families is required.
• Experience in individual, family, and group therapy; pediatric experience preferred.
• Ability to triage care in fast-paced environments and manage stress.
• Knowledge of Social Determinants of Health-based practices.
• Experience navigating health care and community resources.
• Strong organizational, time management and communication skills.
• Ability to work in interprofessional team and independently.
• Commitment to Family Centered Care.
• Knowledge of person-in-environment practice; experience with solution-focused coaching preferred.
• Ability to develop relationships with teams, agencies and community partners.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license and transportation for home visits required.
