Job summary

Canuck Place Children’s Hospice in Abbotsford and Vancouver seeks a Recreation Therapy Assistant to support planning, development, implementation and evaluation of recreation programs across sites. You will liaise with community services and assist with administrative tasks in a 12-month maternity cover, with start mid-January 2027 and end February 2028.

The role demands a post-secondary recreation therapy program, 3+ years of relevant experience, First Aid/CPR, and a BC Class 4 license.

Qualifications

• Completion of post-secondary program in Recreation Therapy or related field.
• Minimum 3 years administering recreation programs for children or disabled individuals.
• Valid First Aid with CPR certification is required.
• Class 4 unrestricted BC driver's license is required.
• Experience with pediatric palliative care is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, implement and evaluate recreation therapy programs.
• Deliver group and one-on-one sessions using recognized therapy techniques.
• Participate in care planning and coordinate with community services.
• Maintain clinical reports and compile statistics.
• Ensure safety and coordinate volunteers for activities.
