Job summary

VHA Home HealthCare is seeking a Behavioural Support Worker-GTA to provide direct respite support to children and youth with autism spectrum or neurodevelopmental needs in family homes across Toronto and the GTA. The role operates within a collaborative care model with an emphasis on safety and client-centred planning.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in a health-related field is required.
• CPR, First Aid, NVCPI certification required.
• Minimum 2 years clinical experience preferred; NEW GRADS welcome.
• Experience working with children/youth with autism or neurodevelopmental conditions.
• G license and Ontario driver's license required; must travel across Toronto and GTA.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care to children/youth up to 18 years with Autism Spectrum Disorder and/or Neurodevelopmental conditions in home settings.
• Administer and record prescribed medication as per medical instructions and follow agency policies.
• Assist clients with personal care and hygiene and promote independence.
• Implement behavioural strategies per the Behavioural Support Plan (BSP).
• Complete documentation and maintain up-to-date case notes per VHA standards.
• Maintain program data and reports for program evaluation and quality.
• Conduct daily assessment of client needs and consult with family before shifts.
