Job Title: Procurement Associate Department: Finance Location: Peel CAS, 25 Capston Dr. Mississauga, Ontario Application Deadline: August 14, 2025 Hourly Grade: 13 Union ($29.86 - $37.10)

Please note: contract duration may be subject to change.

This position supports the operations of the finance department under the direction of the Finance Manager, responsible for all procurement functions.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the ordering and distribution of supplies and gift cards.
  • Assist with financial matters arising from procurement activities.
  • Support monthly financial statement preparation, quarterly ministry reports, and year-end audits.
  • Reconciliation and analysis of assigned procurement accounts on a monthly basis.
  • Identify unusual balances or discrepancies, investigate to obtain explanations, and make the required adjustments.
  • Provide procurement support to facilitate timely and cost-effective procurement.
  • Ensure compliance with the Public Sector procurement directive.
  • Perform other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Certificate or Diploma in finance or related field and one year of related experience.


OR

  • In exceptional circumstances, other educational qualifications combined with progressive experience, deemed suitable by the Chief Financial Officer & Head of Technology.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
  • Knowledge of procurement principles, processes, and documentation in a public/not-for-profit setting.
  • Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and accounting databases.
  • Ability to interpret policies and procedures and make recommendations.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail, ability to work under pressure, handle multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • High proficiency in French is an asset.
  • Experience in public procurement, financial reporting, and analysis is an asset.
  • Completed training courses in procurement practices are an asset.
  • Ability to lift/carry objects exceeding 25 lbs.

HOURS OF WORK

  • 9 am - 5 pm, Monday to Friday.
  • Flexibility to work outside standard hours may be required.
