The Opportunity

This is not your typical CFO role and Peel CAS is not your typical organization.

As one of the largest Children’s Aid Societies in Ontario, Peel CAS is leading transformation in one of the province’s most complex public systems: child welfare, a system as foundational to society as health care, education, and justice. We’re combining bold mission work with innovation, insights, and partnerships to drive lasting, community-centered change. We are future-focused with a balanced budget, sustainable financial plan, and a strong track record of stability and growth.

We are seeking a game-changing finance leader to join our Executive Team as Chief Financial Officer, reporting to the CEO. We are looking for someone who brings financial depth and strategic creativity, a commitment to public purpose, and the mindset of a builder, collaborator, and innovator.

If you're energized by mission, growth, and impact and ready to bring your finance leadership to the forefront of systems change, this is your moment.

Why This Role Is a Rare Opportunity

  • Make a real difference . You’ll directly support services that impact the lives of children, youth, and families every day.
  • Shape a sector and a system . Join a team that’s rewriting the playbook on how child welfare can operate, more community-driven, preventative, and innovative.
  • Bring your full leadership range . Finance, strategic planning, innovation, partnership building, DEI and reconciliation, this is a full-spectrum leadership role.
  • Be part of something future-focused . From revenue diversification to AI and automation and public-private partnerships, we are building capacity for long-term transformation.
  • Enjoy wellness centered benefits. Competitive salary, OMERS pension, robust vacation package, a flexible hybrid work model and personalized leadership development.

What You’ll Lead

As CFO, you will:

  • Serve as the financial strategist and advisor to the CEO, Board, and senior leaders, overseeing all financial operations including budgeting, forecasting, risk management, financial reporting, and long-term financial planning
  • Drive fund diversification through new revenue models, innovative public-private partnerships, and grants
  • Drive systems innovation including process improvement, automation, and emerging tech
  • Play a leadership role in cross-sector initiatives and community events
  • Champion DEI and Truth & Reconciliation in all aspects of leadership
  • Support and steward our relationship with our Foundation

Who We’re Looking For

  • A seasoned, strategic, forward-thinking finance executive with deep expertise in financial operations, planning, and governance
  • Experience with public funding, social impact, or cross-sector partnerships is a plus, alignment with our mission and ambition is essential
  • A relationship builder and collaborator who leads with innovation, navigates complexity, and builds trust across systems, leading with integrity
  • A CPA is required. We welcome candidates with backgrounds in public, nonprofit, private, or consulting environments. Diverse experience is a strength

This is a planned transition. Our current CFO is stepping into a new opportunity and will continue to support the organization during the transition period.
