At Peel CAS, our mission is to protect children and strengthen families & communities through partnership. We are currently seeking the following professional to join our team:

SUMMARY OF DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

To meet the changing needs of the Agency,theChild & Youth Worker- Flex, with Family Support Serviceswill support the needs of children and youth both in care and out of care across multiple service areas including admission prevention, supported parenting sessions, placement services, supporting healthy relationships, permanency planning, and trauma informed treatment services. The key responsibilities of this role are to develop behaviour management strategies, provide a support function to social work staff on case management duties and provides a range of interventions including the assessment of the caregiver/child relations, and the attachment relationship.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Complete assessments and help support safety planning and the provision of service in crisis situations
  • Develop and implement clinical plans and assessments using the SOS framework while considering trauma informed interventions ensuring a diversity and equity lens
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to parents, caregivers and kinship caregivers which may include the delivery of groups to transfer the knowledge and skills
  • Help to develop, support, and implement parenting plans, including supporting parenting sessions
  • Help to identify and build on developing informal and formal support networks and community connections
  • Ensures documentation is prepared timely and that relevant reports are prepared andsubmitted within established timelines
  • Undertakes a variety of social service responsibilities adjunct to social work practice including but not limited to, serving court documents, assisting children in care to attend required appointments, and facilitating applications on behalf of our youth
  • Review and maintain Ministry standards
  • Ability to transfer to the different CYW functions as required
  • Carries out other duties as assigned

JOB SPECIFICATION/ COMPETENCIES:

  • Experience and in-depth knowledge of social and psychological dynamics related to child development and behavior management (Attachment/Trauma Theory, Child Developmental/resiliency theories, Emotional Regulation, Critical Reflective practice and principles of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion).
  • Strong behavior management and child management skills, including an understanding of individual, family, and group dynamics.
  • Understanding and experience in assessing and assisting families regarding trauma resultant from childhood physical, sexual, neglect and/or emotional abuse.
  • Strong analytical and assessment skills, able to process a high volume of information quickly.
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong ability to work collaboratively with professionals of other disciplines and individuals from a variety of backgrounds and cultures across the agency and community and continuously build productive working relationships.
  • Strong computer skills and the willingness to learn current and new software used by the agency.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Child & Youth Work Diploma from a recognized Community College
  • A minimum of five years related experience
  • A Class G Driver’s License and daily access to a vehicle
  • Certification in CPR, First Aid, UMAB , Medication Administration and Dispensing

HOURS OF WORK:

  • Any workers assuming primary responsibility in the Family Visit Centre, Weekend Program will include facilitation of family visits, Saturdays, and Sundays (8:30am-4:30pm)
  • Potential weekday and weekend assignments with community partners to support families.
  • Working hours may vary and applicants must be flexible to work outside of standard office hours.

HOURLY GRADE: Grade 10 Union ($38.15 -$48.38)
CLOSING DATE:July 10, 2025
