About The Role

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll Technician to manage and process payroll operations across the United States, Canada, and Ireland. As a member of the finance team supporting the Global Head of Accounting and Controls, you will ensure timely, accurate, and compliant payroll in each jurisdiction, while supporting broader international payroll responsibilities as needed.

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Process accurate and timely payroll for employees in the U.S., Canada, and Ireland, ensuring full compliance with local tax laws, employment standards, and statutory requirements.
  2. Serve as the subject matter expert for payroll regulations in the U.S., Canada, and Ireland, and provide guidance to internal stakeholders as needed.
  3. Coordinate with local payroll vendors to ensure proper input of payroll data such as salaries, bonuses, commissions, benefits, and tax changes.
  4. Conduct pre- and post-payroll audits, including reconciliation of payroll registers, tax withholdings, and benefit deductions.
  5. Collaborate with HR, Finance, and Legal to ensure payroll inputs are accurate and complete, including new hires, terminations, and changes.
  6. Monitor and ensure accurate remittance of payroll taxes, pensions, social insurance contributions, and year-end reporting.
  7. Maintain and organize payroll records in compliance with data protection regulations such as GDPR and other regional standards.
  8. Assist with global payroll operations and support payroll processing in other countries as the business expands.
  9. Work with cross-functional teams on month-end close activities, payroll journal entries, and audits.
  10. Stay current with changing payroll laws and regulatory updates in the U.S., Canada, and Ireland.

Primary Qualifications & Skills

  • 3–5+ years of payroll processing experience with a focus on U.S., Canadian, and Irish payroll.
  • Solid knowledge of relevant tax regulations, labor laws, and statutory reporting for all three countries.
  • Experience working with global or regional payroll vendors and payroll platforms (e.g., Nethris, Workday, PrismHR, Deel or equivalent).
  • Proficient in payroll reconciliation, accounting principles, and payroll reporting.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines across different regions and time zones.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with internal teams and external vendors.
  • Payroll certifications such as FPC, CPP, PCP (Canada), or IPASS (Ireland) are considered assets.
  • Experience in a multinational or fast-growing global company is considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with Business Central and other ERP platforms is considered an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with large data sets and reporting is considered an asset.

Please note that hybrid work in Montreal is preferred, but the role is open for remote work across Canada.
