Responsibilities

  • Stay current on payroll and tax laws in Canada, US, and other relevant countries.

Job Summary

The Payroll Technician is responsible for ensuring all regulatory and non-regulatory remittances are made promptly. As part of the payroll team, the technician supports system implementations and configuration changes, manages special projects, and produces reports.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Reconcile and remit all regulatory remittances timely (e.g., BC EHT, Canada and US WCB).
  2. Reconcile European Social Security Scheme premium remittances.
  3. Run scheduled bi-weekly and monthly reports, along with ad hoc reports as needed.
  4. Reconcile general ledger and journal entries.
  5. Serve as backup to payroll team members as required.
  6. Complete quarterly taxes template balancing and remittance reconciliation.
  7. Partner with the Manager to execute system configurations.
  8. Develop, maintain, and report payroll trends and statistics on labor and benefit costs.
  9. Identify and report payroll inconsistencies.
  10. Design, document, and implement procedures to streamline payroll processes.
  11. Stay current on payroll and tax laws in Canada, US, and other relevant countries.
  12. Assist with system implementations and rollouts.
  13. Participate in year-end activities such as adjustment runs and tax reconciliation.
  14. Oversee compliance projects as assigned.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned and adhere to policies and procedures.
