About the Role:

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the timely and accurate processing of payroll and benefits for both hourly and salaried employees. This role is ideal for a mid to senior-level specialist with diverse experience. Reporting to the Payroll Manager, this position is based in Brantford and is a 14-month contract to cover maternity leave.

Main Responsibilities:
  1. Payroll Processing:
    • Administer the complete payroll process for employees in a rotating shift environment.
    • Experience with ADP WFN is an asset.
    • Process special payments, new hires, employee changes, and terminations/ROEs.
    • Maintain accurate employee information and verify bi-weekly data.
    • Assist employees with pay statement registration and password resets.
    • Monitor payroll data for improvements and trends.
  2. Benefits & Pension Administration:
    • Provide daily benefits administration services.
    • Maintain accurate premium reporting.
    • Conduct regular audits of pension contributions and voluntary deductions.
  3. Disability Claims Administration:
    • Inform employees about their disability benefits.
    • Send and follow up on disability paperwork.
    • Provide WSIB Earnings reports to H&S as needed.
Who we are looking for:
  • At least 3 years of experience in a similar role, with proficiency in Excel, ADP Workforce Now, PCP.
  • Experience managing payroll for both salary and hourly employees in rotating shifts.
  • Knowledge of Benefits and Pension administration.
  • Thorough understanding of Canadian employment and payroll legislation, including Employment Standards and CRA requirements.
  • Strong skills in Word, Excel, Outlook, database management, and record keeping.
  • Experience with SAP and accounting principles is an asset.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Excellent multitasking, probing, analyzing, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
