Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced payroll specialist responsible for all payroll-related tasks. Your duties will include collecting and reviewing employee information, calculating wages, preparing and processing employee payments, and maintaining accurate payroll records. The role also involves investigating and resolving payroll issues while ensuring compliance with company and regulatory standards. An outstanding payroll specialist should possess excellent people skills and a high numerical aptitude.

What You'll Do

  • Process semi-monthly payroll for US and Canadian employees.
  • Assemble reports of company earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability payments, and non-taxable wages.
  • Prepare year-end employee tax slips or forms and submit government filings to meet deadlines.
  • Maintain confidential information by adhering to legal and ethical standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure benefits and payroll services are delivered efficiently.
  • Monitor and analyze expenses against the payroll budget to help prepare cost forecasts and budgets.
  • Ensure databases are up-to-date, reflecting the current employee base, including salaries, hourly wages, benefits, and pension contributions.
  • Stay current with tax laws and other regulations to ensure compliance.

What You Bring

  • Associates or bachelor's degree in business or related field.
  • Proven experience in a payroll role within a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong knowledge of tax and wage laws.
  • Understanding of common fiscal procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Exceptional multitasking and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Physically able to work seated in front of a computer for extended periods.
  • Canadian Payroll Association - Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) or equivalent certification.
  • Minimum of 2 to 3 years of direct Canadian, US, and global payroll experience.
  • Knowledge of Workday is essential.
  • Strong sense of responsibility and ability to meet deadlines.

How We Work

This role requires two in-office days per week, with three days in-office during the three-month orientation period. Fully remote work is not available for this position.
