Horizon Recruitment is recruiting for an Intermediate Payroll Specialist to join a fast-moving, high-volume payroll team supporting thousands of employees across Canada. This role is ideal for a payroll professional who enjoys solving complex problems, streamlining processes, and ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time in a multi-entity, multi-province environment. You’ll play a critical role in maintaining operational excellence and contributing to a supportive, collaborative team culture.

Responsibilities :

  • Process multi-province payroll using Ceridian Dayforce or similar systems, ensuring compliance with employment standards and internal policies.
  • Audit incoming payroll data from multiple sources and resolve discrepancies proactively to prevent downstream issues.
  • Collaborate with HR and operations teams to validate and approve employee changes, including new hires, terminations, and benefit enrollments.
  • Analyze payroll reports to identify trends, errors, or opportunities for process improvement.
  • Support benefits administration and assist with payroll-related inquiries from internal stakeholders.
  • Contribute to ongoing process optimization projects to enhance payroll efficiency and accuracy.
  • Provide training and support to team members as needed to build collective knowledge and capability.

Requirements :

  • 2–4 years of Canadian payroll experience, with a focus on multi-province environments.
  • Proficiency in Ceridian Dayforce or equivalent payroll systems, with the ability to learn new platforms quickly.
  • Strong Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, and large dataset management).
  • Solid understanding of Canadian employment standards, statutory deductions, and ROE processes.
  • A proactive, analytical mindset with a knack for solving complex payroll challenges.
  • Experience in high-volume payroll environments and the ability to prioritize under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented approach.
  • U.S. payroll knowledge is an asset but not required.

Remuneration :

  • 65K - 70K salary with benefits, hybrid work flexibility (after onboarding), and three weeks of vacation to start.
