Job Title: Payroll Specialist
Job Description

As a Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for processing the full cycle of biweekly payrolls efficiently and accurately. You will maintain all payroll data records and ensure an auditable system of payroll accounting. Your duties will include processing time, vacation pay, authorized adjustments, corrections, retro pay increases, bonus payments, maternity leave payments, severance processing, and more. You will collaborate with HR to ensure proper documentation and authorizations are received and requirements are met. You will analyze and respond to complex payroll matters, provide HR team members with information on payroll processes, and handle employee inquiries.

Responsibilities
  • Process the full cycle of biweekly payrolls accurately and timely.
  • Maintain payroll data records and ensure an auditable payroll accounting system.
  • Collaborate with HR to ensure proper documentation and authorizations.
  • Analyze and respond to complex payroll matters requiring comprehensive policy knowledge.
  • Provide information to HR team members on payroll processes and impacts.
  • Respond to and resolve employee inquiries, making appropriate adjustments.
  • Review, analyze, and verify payroll reports and documents for accuracy.
  • Run queries and gather backup reports, update spreadsheets, and reconcile numbers.
  • Maintain working knowledge of policies and concepts, such as ROEs.
  • Manually intervene and fix ROEs produced automatically by Workday.
  • Input data into software, using Excel, and upload to Workday.
  • Open and process mail, including CERB, approximately 40-50 pieces a month.
Essential Skills
  • Minimum 2-5 years of payroll experience.
  • Experience processing payroll for 500+ employees.
  • Experience in a medium to large organization.
  • Updated knowledge of Canadian Tax Laws.
  • Strong knowledge of standard legislative guidelines, including ESA, Revenue Canada, and Revenue Quebec.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, H&V look up, and formulas.
  • Payroll software experience, including payroll-based accounting knowledge.
  • Strong written communication skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Workday Payroll software experience preferred.
  • Experience with Quebec payroll.
  • PCP Designation is a plus.
  • Multi-provincial experience is beneficial.
  • Eager to learn and grow.
  • Analytical and tech-savvy, particularly with Excel.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $29.25 - $29.25/hr.
