Job description

Join a top employer and advance your career. Aplin has partnered with a Mississauga, ON based organization to hire a Payroll Representative on a 3- month contract with possibility of extensions.

Reporting directly to the Director, Payroll and Benefits, the Payroll and HRIS Representative must consistently provide a superior level of service in regard to HRIS data integrity, payroll accuracy, adherence to collective agreements and legislative compliance.

Please note this position is hybrid 2-3 days a week in Mississauga.

Responsibilities:

  • Payroll subject matter specialist, ensuring accuracy and consistency, including providing direction with respect to payroll policies and procedures, taxation issues and adherence to collective agreements and legislation. Stays current on changing federal/provincial legislation.
  • Accountable for updating and maintaining the integrity of employee data in ADP HRIS including new hires, status changes, terminations etc, in addition to audit of all entries.
  • Accountable for full cycle payroll for designated group(s) from new entry to processing to final audit, according to legislative and contractual requirements.
  • Responsible for maintaining the integrity of and performing modifications to ADP and KRONOS systems as required. Assist, develop and implement changes directly with service provider(s) as required, ensuring the accuracy of final payroll results.
  • Process miscellaneous payments such as stipends, vacation dollars, premium pay, miscellaneous bonus, retro pay, severance pay etc. directly in ADP HRIS.
  • Responsible for making stop payments, doing wire transfers and entering of adjustments in to update YTD totals when required. Verify, prepare, and release record of employments for designated employees.
  • Accountable for the remittance of deductions and premiums to outside agencies including garnishments, family support, union dues, pension and WSIB premiums, as well as other monthly filing/reporting.
  • Identify and recommend relevant changes to internal payroll processes to improve payroll provided services.
  • Communicate and collaborate with relevant sources, to provide information and respond to inquiries including third-party agencies and service providers.
  • Acts as a subject matter specialist on Time and Attendance and EIF system/matters (from a payroll perspective). Respond to Kronos/EIF requests and advance as appropriate.

Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years College Diploma in relevant field.
  • Canadian Payroll Association Certification (PA/ PCP Designation).
  • Minimum 5 year experience administering payroll in large scale organization, retail industry preferred and multi provincial experience preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge, experience and understanding of applicable legislation, concepts, collective agreements, company policies.
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines, strong attention to detail.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication, represented in a positive manner.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills; Advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent understanding and experience of applicable computer programs, i.e., ADP, Kronos Timekeeper, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
