Job description

Mamaweswen, The North Shore Tribal Council invites applications for the position of Payroll Officer.

Purpose and Scope

The Payroll Officer will provide coordination and complete all payroll functions and services for the Units and staff of the North Shore Tribal Council, Maamwesying North Shore Community Health Services and Benbowopka Treatment Centre.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide payroll function consistent with organizational and legislative requirement
  • Complete financial coordination for all Payroll periods, including maintaining the payroll records and adjustments as required for proper record keeping
  • Prepare cheques/EFT deposits for signatures and recording cheques for outgoing mail
  • Complete financial coordination of bi-weekly Payroll, including inputting new employee information, and changes to terminated employees into the Payroll financial software.
  • Ensure employee fact forms are completed, and/or verified.
  • Process bi-weekly timesheets for casual/term employees
  • Print and file all Payroll reports
  • Complete monthly, bi-weekly or weekly payroll remittances for statutory deductions, Pension Plan, WSIB and employer health tax
  • Prepare and submit the annual CRA T4 Summary and complete T4's for all staff and distribute
  • Issue Record of Employment as required, and file
  • Complete and submit the annual reconciliations for WSIB and EHT
  • Provide financial coordination of the Pension Plan, ensuring payroll deduction forms are accurately completed.

Qualifications:

  • Accounting Diploma in Finance or equivalent payroll related certification/experience
  • A minimum of three years of professional experience in finance, administration and/or payroll administration
  • Knowledge and training in Sage Accpac Financial Software
  • Knowledge and training in Microsoft Office Software Applications
  • Demonstrated financial analytical skills
  • Excellent organizational abilities
