Job summary

GolfBC is seeking a Payroll Manager to lead accurate, on-time payroll for about 800 Team Members across golf and hospitality. The 20-month fixed-term role is based at our Vancouver Head Office and supports part-time, full-time, regular, and seasonal staff with bi-weekly and semi-monthly pay cycles and a large seasonal volume.

  • 7+ years of payroll experience.
  • Payroll-specific certificate or designation.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience managing high-volume, multi-location payrolls.
  • ADP Workforce Now implementation or migration experience.
  • Hospitality or seasonal payroll experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead payroll for hourly and salaried Team Members across multiple businesses with bi-weekly and semi-monthly pay schedules and seasonal volume.
  • Coordinate onboarding and offboarding for approximately 700 seasonal Team Members, including final pay and benefits administration.
  • Lead the transfer to ADP Workforce Now, including data validation, testing and launch.
  • Prepare reports and analyses on labour costs, overtime, headcount and other workforce metrics.
  • Complete journal entries, reconciliations, remittances and year-end reporting; support audits.
  • Coach the Payroll Administrator and assist managers with payroll, scheduling, time and attendance, and tax questions.
  • Report to the Director of People and Culture and collaborate with the Director of Finance.

Job description

GolfBC is looking for a detail-loving Payroll Manager to lead accurate, on-time payroll for approximately 800 Team Members across our golf and hospitality businesses. We support part-time, full-time, regular, and seasonal Team Members; spread across multiple businesses that work together in a fun, friendly, and fast-paced environment.

This 20-month fixed-term position is based at our Head Office in Vancouver and begins in late October or early November, ahead of maternity/parental leave beginning at the end of December.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead payroll for hourly and salaried Team Members across multiple businesses, with bi-weekly and semi-monthly pay schedules and significant seasonal volume.
  • Coordinate the payroll aspects of onboarding and offboarding approximately 700 seasonal Team Members, including final pay, Records of Employment and benefits administration.
  • Lead the transfer to ADP Workforce Now, including data validation, testing and launch.
  • Prepare reports and analysis on labour costs, overtime, headcount and other workforce measures.
  • Complete journal entries, reconciliations, remittances and year-end reporting, and provide records for audits.
  • Coach and develop the Payroll Administrator, and help managers resolve questions about payroll, scheduling, time and attendance, and tax.
  • Report to the Director of People and Culture and work closely with the Director of Finance.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
  • 7+ years of payroll experience
  • Payroll Compliance Professional certificate
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Confident problem solver who works well independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Hands-on experience with ADP Workforce Now, including system implementation, is a significant asset
  • Experience managing high-volume, multi-location payroll; hospitality or seasonal workforce experience is an asset
  • Takes initiative and follows through with a high level of accountability
  • Interacts effectively with Team Members at all levels of the organization
  • Shows tact and discretion when dealing with confidential information
  • Remains calm, organized and accurate under tight deadlines
  • Strong computer skills, especially Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of payroll best practices, CRA requirements, and the BC Employment Standards Act
